Hosted by the San Diego Derby Dolls.

Blood & Thunder Magazine is organizing a nationwide derby training camp to be hosted by the San Diego Derby Dolls, featuring some of the best coaches from around the country. The four day camp will include intensive training sessions culminating in a public bout on Saturday night, as well as workshops, symposiums and Q&A sessions on a host of derby-related subjects.

Skaters of all skill levels are invited to attend! Flat and banked track! Skaters who are interested in coaching can benefit from coaching workshops and by being trained by the best!

February 21st-24th in San Diego, California

To attend, open the Registration Form. Next, copy it and paste it into an email (with your info added) and send it to us at trainingcamp@bloodandthundermag.com. We will give you instructions for payment.

Price to attend this event is $250 (Plus processing fee if paying online).

Black Dahlia
After skating with the L.A. Derby Dolls for two years, Dahlia became the founder and coach of New Zealand’s first roller derby league, the Pirate City Rollers. She served on the Gotham Girls Roller Derby league’s coaching committee in early 2007, and upon moving to Seattle, she started coaching the Jet City Rollergirls’ travel team.

Bonnie D.Stroir
Bonnie is the head coach and founder of the San Diego Derby Dolls. She'll be coaching an on-skates seminar for Intermediate and Advanced skaters on tricky stuff like leg whips, backwards whips, backwards blocking and other fun stuff!

Bully Julie
Julie is the head of the San Diego Derby Dolls’ training team. She has conducted boot camps for her league’s rookie skaters and coaches their Junior Derby League.

Cherry Chainsaw
Cherry was one of the original skaters with the resurgence league in 2001 and now skates with the Lonestar Rollergirls. Because of her background in figure skating, she started training other skaters from the get-go. She coaches banked and flat track derby to all skill levels.

Estro Jen
Estro is the captain of the Los Angeles Road Ragers, coach of the Pink Ladies Junior Roller Derby, has trained at RollerCon, and has done various guest coaching lessons. The teaching approach she uses focuses on equipping new skaters with the tools needed to improve on their own and/or outside of derby practice.

Hollywood Chuck Bury
Chuck is the league and travel team coach for the Dockyard Derby Dames, as well as the travel team coach for the Rose City Rollers. He also has coached speed skating from 2001 thru the present.

Mayhemily
Mayhemily, (Renegade Rollergirls, Bay City Bombers, original AZRD member), created Project Mayhemily to apply her work as an athletic trainer to roller derby. With input from some of the best people in the strength and conditioning industry, Mayhemily has worked with skaters of all levels around the country.

Pauly "The Waterboy"
Pauly spent four years as the Arizona Roller Derby’s league and travel team coach. He has also done guest coaching spots at both RollerCons and with leagues across the U.S. and Canada. He is a former member of WFTDA’s Gang of Nine rules committee, and served as the head ref at RollerCon ’06.

Shirley N. Sane
A quad speed champ herself, Shirley has coached speed skating on a World Class level for twenty five years. She also skated derby in 2006 to gain insight into the sport for coaching purposes. She has run her own boot camps in Florida, and coaches both banked and flat track to all skill levels.

Flying Squirrel
Squirrel has served as the Gotham Girls Roller Derby league coach since 2005, and also currently coaches the New York Shock Exchange Men’s Roller Derby league. A long-time skater, he taught basic skating skills to children and the mentally handicapped from 1989 – 2004.

Tara Armov
Tara is co-head of the L.A. Derby Dolls training team, and was captain of the Fight Crew for three years. She has done coaching guest sport around California, and coaches both banked and flat track derby.
